My Superpowers
How I Work & What That Means for You
What is Unique About My Methods or Service
Example: University of Maine
This virtual project team was brought in by a University Program Director to do instructional design and online educational course development.
The University of Maine has an information technology team working under the CIO which was responsible for this. The problem - they hated each other and couldn’t work together. Each had requirements which the other did not understand or respect.
During the kick-off meeting with the heads of both departments I explained my position and how I would work to help each one fulfill their responsibilities and meet their goals. I managed the workflow between the two to get the courses online meeting the requirements of both groups.
86% of employees cite lack of collaborationExample: Dr. May-Fulton County Project Meeting
The Medical Director in charge of the project was standing beside me and mentioned, “Well, it’s time for the meeting. Is it just you and me? Where is everybody?”
“What meeting?” I asked.
In his mind he had scheduled a meeting and expected his head of nursing staff to organize it - but did not tell him that. He thought the mention was enough.
Example: Brighter Brain I.T. Consulting
This company came to me with a marketing need. Few leads, wrong leads, low ball prices, and consultants on bench for 6 months on end. They also wanted to crank out more consultants and get more business. They started with me creating a technical writing department - which was a technical MARKETING writing department.
They were using SMEs to inform the marketing materials, zero SEO involved and so no SEO research or market research. There were a ton of people who required a say in each marketing piece and all wanted to review every draft and make their preferential changes.
Bottom Line Problem: They had no system. None. Na-da.
Solution: I created a department and a system for content creation, review and approval with workflows, checkpoints, processes, procedures, and timelines.
As part of that process there was a strict order of events. One thing had to be done - completely and correctly before another could begin (otherwise bad results, wasted time, etc.)
